WernerCo invests in cutting-edge technology

May 16, 2019

Leading manufacturer WernerCo has significantly invested in new technology to enhance production capabilities for BoSS® products at its Maldon facility.

An investment of over £1.1m has been made by WernerCo to install new Autodeck Cell robotic manufacturing technology at its factory, which is used to produce the BoSS 1.8m - 3.2m fixed and trapdoor tower decks.

This investment has been made to streamline production processes and reduce the need for manual handling, thereby improving productivity and preventing any health and safety issues associated with the previously manual-heavy operation. The latest automated welding technology will also help maintain BoSS’ reputation for high product quality, guaranteeing the integrity of every product that leaves the factory. The automated welding & riveting operation provides complete and consistent accuracy of handling and fixing across each product.

The new Autodeck Cell robotic equipment has been supplied by ABB, the world’s leading supplier of industrial robots, which has previously supplied other robotic equipment to WernerCo’s Maldon facility.

Jan Zmrzlik, WernerCo’s Manager of the Maldon site, commented: “Decks are an integral part of a tower safety and this specialised process ensures that every deck that leaves our factory is of the same quality. We are always looking at ways in which we can improve our production lines and this investment in new Autodeck Cell technology has helped to provide a streamlined process to support the rest of the operation here at our factory.

“As well as delivering a daily production rate to keep up with customer demand, we can ensure that we continue to provide users with a first-class product.”
